Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Former WWE wrestler Jack Swagger— real name Jake Hager— faces his second professional mixed martial arts fight at Bellator 221 this weekend, after winning his first handily. His opponent is a beef plant worker named T.J. Jones.
Jones, whose record is 1-1, was delighted to be at the pre-fight press conference. He gave his thoughts on the right approach to face Hager’s wrestling-heavy style. He also gave some insight as to what he is feeling, sharing the stage with names like Michael Chandler and Patricio Pitbull. Via MMAJunkie.com:
It’s probably one of the most humbling experiences of my life. You’ve got nothing but world-class champions up here, and then you’ve got Jake. So it’s very cool to be up here with these guys.
Jones’ nickname is ‘Tombstone’, and he has a backup plan if the fight this weekend doesn’t go his way.
If I lose, I just go back to the beef plant

Thanks to Jesse for this image, in which Tombstone looks like he could be an extra on Trailer Park Boys

That would be one insane fight- Mike Perry vs. Elizeu Capoeira dos Santos.
I’m sitting next to Elizeu Capoeira’s coach right now and his response was “let’s do it”.

Whether or not you agreed with the scorecards, Cory Sandhagen vs. John Lineker was such an awesome fight.
You do not want to mess with this guy.

Speaking of Jose Aldo, this knockout is reminiscent of his early career KO of Roland Perez.

Y’all remember the animated kid’s movie Treasure Planet? This is as close to the surfing in that movie as you are gonna get, which means that now the child in me wants to do it.
