Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every quarantined night!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
This is certainly one of the more appalling examples of Jon Jones’ Tweet-N-Delete lifestyle.
Last week, Anthony Smith suffered a home invasion in the middle of the night from a former standout wrestler who appeared out of his mind. Jones reacted online by saying that the home intruder would not have left his home with the ability to walk. Smith fired back, accusing Jones of using his disastrous, worst-case home invasion as an opportunity to flex on social media.
Tonight, Jones fired back before quickly deleting the Tweet. Fortunately, MMAmania’s Cory Braiterman grabbed a screenshot.
The deleted Tweet reads, “Anthony if you’re going to leave your garage door open all night, hurry up and by the family a gun, some mace or something. A douche bag more like me could’ve completely had his way with you all night, that could’ve been bad for everyone.”
Yikes.
A charitable interpretation of the Tweet above is that Jones has the ability to merely break in and beat Smith up. However, it’s hard not to interpret “completely had his way with you all night” as an implication of sexual assault. That’s probably a poor choice of words for a man once accused of assault after allegedly slapping a strip club waitress’ vagina in 2019.
Jones would later plead “No Contest” to that charge and suffer few actual consequence (as usual). Anyone expect anything different this time or will this be ignored like most of Jones’ past issues?

Ain’t no such thing as cheap shots in a street fight — though I don’t know if a gloved contest with taps really qualifies as such?

I am glad that Nick Diaz is retired, but he has to go down in history as one of the most entertaining fights of all time.

The amateur MMA scene is wild. There’s so much variance in talent — anyone signing up for an amateur Heavyweight fight could be taking on a local bouncer or the next Curtis Blaydes.

A slick shot of raptor combat:
Midnight Music: Fiona Apple is tremendous. Her new album, Fetch The Bolt Cutters, released today, and it’s also pretty tremendous. The veteran songwriter returns on her first album in eight years with absolutely explosive and varied vocals — it’s a must listen.
Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
