Midnight Mania! Jorge Masvidal predicts Georges St-Pierre will beat Michael Bisping … unless USADA affects him

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight …

Welcome to Midnight Mania! Tonight we’ve got Jorge Masvidal suggesting that Georges St-Pierre may be affected by USADA, Daniel Cormier opening up about bullying in his childhood and deaths in his family, Robbie Lawler apparently a fan of John Cena, knockouts, highlights, cauliflower ear exploding and much, much more

Insomnia

Jorge Masvidal took a sidelong shot at former Welterweight champion and all-time great Georges St-Pierre in a recent interview. St. Pierre is set to fight Michael Bisping for the Middleweight title sometime this summer or fall. Masvidal thinks GSP ought to have the edge … with a catch. Transcript via BloodyElbow.com:

“It could be a really good fight. I think GSP wins it, if it’s the GSP of old. I’m not saying he ever did or didn’t, but a lot of fighters act different after USADA. So we will see if USADA has any effect on GSP or not, because I think the old GSP would easily handle to GSP. He would’ve able to take him down, time him, outbox him even with his jab, get on his legs and take him down. Let’s see if USADA has anything to say about GSP.”

That’s an interesting take from the veteran Masvidal. St-Pierre, with his ripped physique and explosive athleticism, was never immune to accusations of steroid use, but he never once tested positive, and was always extremely vocal about the need for more stringent testing. He was explicit in stating that the lack of drug-testing standards were one reason he stepped away from the sport, and a reason he cited for his eventual willingness to return. He has been in the USADA pool since August of 2016. There have been no violations reported yet.

At 36 years old, with several knee surgeries in his past, St-Pierre may or may not have that same incredible double-leg that put so many opponents on their backs or the fizz on that jolting jab that irrevocably altered Josh Koscheck’s career. However, many would doubtless view a disappointing performance as a chance to cry “USADA.”

Bobs and Weaves

Daniel Cormier opens up about bullying, the murder of his father and the death of his son.

Speaking of Cormier, he keeps it real with the Mayweather-McGregor talk. Floyd does kill McGregor in any boxing scenario imaginable.

“King Mo” details Robbie Lawler’s love of John Cena. If Lawler beats Cerrone at UFC 213, he is apparently going to do Cena’s, “You can’t see me” routine.

This is a great commentary team.

UFC 210 will feature the three-man commentary team again. It’ll be Anik, Rogan and Dominick Cruz.

Lomachenko, possibly the pound-for-pound best boxer in the world, tooled up T.J. Dillashaw in their sparring session, which was awesome.
