Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Conor McGregor is growing increasingly irate with the UFC commentary team. It is their jobs to offer analysis and opinions alike on the promotion’s athletes, and lately, the remarks have been less than flattering. As a result, McGregor has taken quite a few shots at Daniel Cormier, but now it seems Michael Bisping is drawing his ire as well.
Bisping’s involvement in the “DC” feud annoyed the Irish athlete, prompting (yet another) tweet-and-delete incident. McGregor attacked the former Middleweight champion online, referencing the violent end to his professional career.
“Bisping is a nobody on Sirius XM,” McGregor tweeted (via Christopher Taylor). “Rushed back to competition after being dropped/strangled and then gets shotgun slept by Gastelum’s left hand. Devastating. Even though I collect commission on all his fights, I still said to the team to pull the Gast fight. I knew it was coming. But hey, 100k! 50k off the top of each fight. I used to say ‘yoink’ every time it hit the account.”
On the latest episode of Bisping’s “Believe You Me” podcast, Bisping responded, denying that McGregor made any money off his bouts. Otherwise, Bisping snuck in a shot at McGregor’s legacy before moving on to another subject.
“No you don’t,” Bisping responded. “You’ve never collected a penny of commission off me, mate. I’m not going into details but that’s just that. This was going to be my response. I don’t know what is getting deleted quicker, Conor’s tweet or his legacy, because they’re both disappearing down the f—ing pipe. I’m not going to do that. You know, I’m not going to get into it publicly on social media, like I’m f—ing arguing with some 13-year-old kids on Call of Duty.”
In response, McGregor played the classic “I’m richer than you” card, posting a picture of Bisping on a commercial airline while McGregor’s family spends time on Legacy 5000 private jets. That Tweet is below (for now):

Ultimately, nothing is likely to come of this feud, though irritating all of the athletes who discuss his bouts and performances seems likely to backfire on some level.
Insomnia
Yana Kunitskaya sheds some light on last night’s pregnancy controversy:
It was announced that Paddy Pimblett was out of his UFC debut fight, but Pimblett unannounced it! At the moment, the situation is unclear, but it appears the fight will go on.
Seeing reports out there that @PaddyTheBaddy’s UFC debut has been postponed.
Asked Paddy. He tells me that’s 100% false and that he is still fighting on Sept. 4.

Chad Mendes is officially in training camp for his BKFC debut.
Quinton Jackson has been angling for a boxing match for Shannon Briggs for a while now, and it sounds like it’s becoming closer to reality.

Some sweet sketches of One Championship athletes:
Teofimo Lopez’s ab workout is absolutely insane. Most of those movements are very difficult on their own, let alone chained so smoothly.

This was the WRONG time to go for a takedown.

I love this clip. Zajac clearly fights with a healthy amount of wildness, yet his instincts are there!

Someone pointed out that these teams need different colored shorts in order to distinguish the athletes, but doesn’t the confusion merely add to the chaotic appeal?
