Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Despite what Dana White might tell you, Georges St. Pierre had every intention of honoring his contract and fighting Robert Whittaker at Middleweight. That’s according to his coach John Danaher, who spoke today on the MMA Hour. Unfortunately, colitis, a very serious health condition that has him fasting every other day, interfered. St. Pierre tried to put on weight before his title fight against Michael Bisping at UFC 217; not only was he unable to do so, coming into the fight at just over 190 pounds, but the attempt took a serious toll on his health.

This runs counter to Dana White’s claim that St. Pierre never intended to fight Whittaker. Danaher refuted another claim made by White- that GSP didn’t want to fight anyone at welterweight. According to Danaher, GSP DID want to come back for the welterweight crown once Tyron Woodley became champion. It was Danaher who talked him into moving up to middleweight, and a group of coaches, including Zahabi, Roach, Danaher, met with GSP to come up with a career plan.

Insomnia

Robert Whittaker is finding some picturesque places to train:

Remember how Jason Knight got docked a point for biting Gabriel Benitez’s fingers? Well, guess what? Benitez shouldn’t have put his fingers in Jason’s mouth, according to the Kid.

Nicco Montano finally has money- but no one will take it without credit.

Will Cain Velasquez actually stay healthy this time?

The two best actors who are also UFC lightweights, want to fight each other. Felder is a trained thespian (theater actor) while Iaquinta apparently was a surprising natural in a TV pilot that was never picked up. What’s really important, though, is that there’s no way this isn’t a barnburner.

Whoever is running Sylvester Stallone’s account pranked us with a “big announcement” that had nothing to do with Brock Lesnar.

Remember Keaton Jones, that kid who was bullied at school? Well, what was apparently a fake account was using that to try and scam folks out of their money.

This was, apparently a fake account.

Aljamain Sterling is surprisingly cool with all the memes about him dabbing after getting knocked out.

This kid is gonna be a monster

“Cub Swanson issues a statement after his loss” feels too formal to say he said this:

Even in a loss, Swanson set a record:

McGregor wants this to come across tough, but it’s just a sappy new dad post
