Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Colby Covington fans might have reason to be worried.
Former Welterweight champ Tyron Woodley has teamed up with BMF kingpin and recent title challenger Jorge Masvidal ahead of his bout with Covington, which is set to take place on Sept. 19 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the above video, Masvidal and Woodley confirm that they are training together ahead of the “Chaos” main event.
As Woodley summed it up, “We’re squadding up!”
There’s a whole heap of bad blood between Covington and these two Welterweight talents. Woodley has been booked or in discussion to fight Covington for the better part of the last two years, which has resulted in copious amounts of verbal warfare. Each man has accused the other of ducking the match up several times, but now we’re just a couple weeks away with contracts signed.
Masvidal, meanwhile, was once a close friend and training partner of “Chaos.” The two were room mates for years! Now, they’re heated enemies, as Covington has left American Top Team entirely … because of all the trash talk towards his own team mates! Covington and “Gamebred” are not fighting yet, but it’s a definite possibility down the line.
It’s a powerful pairing, and despite the stylistic differences between Masvidal and Covington, one would expect that Masvidal knows quite a bit of firsthand knowledge about Covington’s habits. Think it makes a difference come September 19?

I usually wouldn’t include this type of trolling, but since it’s Tito …

Andre Fili flew in grappling ace and One Championship athlete Garry Tonon to help him prepare for his Halloween bout with Bryce Mitchell.
Robbie Lawler’s fight a few nights ago was sad.

Middle finger to high kick is apparently an unstoppable combination — someone tell the Diaz brothers!
If you do not know Bellator’s Patchy Mix, you should, because the 27-year-old is incredibly talented on the mat.

This reflective house is pretty neat.
Midnight Music: I listened to Jeff Magnum’s (of Neutral Milk Hotel fame) Live At Jittery Joe’s for the first time tonight. His live versions are really not that drastically different from the studio equivalents, but I like ‘em either way!
Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
