Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

The Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Jung, was last seen in the Octagon in a 2018 Fight of the Year contender against Yair Rodriguez. On pace to win a decision, Sung Jung committed to a combination with one second to go. Yair threw an up-elbow at an angle we have never seen before in MMA, and knocked the Korean Zombie out cold. It was, quite possibly, the greatest KO in UFC history. Now, he has verbally agreed to return against contender Renato Moicano in an amazing scrap. The Brazilian Moicano last lost a title eliminator by technical knockout to the great Jose Aldo.

The scrap will determine who is poised to bounce back into contention for Max Holloway’s title. The tough Hawaiian came up just short in a fight with Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight championship. His future is, at the moment, uncertain- will he return to the tough weight cut to 145 pounds, or will he elect to remain at 155? Another moving piece is Alexander Volkanovski’s bout with Jose Aldo. If Aldo defeats the current top contender in Volkanovski, there will be no consensus for the next title shot, as Aldo himself has lost twice to Holloway.

Therefore, the winner of this bout could find themselves abruptly in a very good position with an impressive win. UFC Greenville is slated for June 22, and is the UFC’s first-ever event in South Carolina. Other notable scraps include flyweight Andrea Lee vs. Montana de la Rosa, and Bryan Barberena vs. Randy Brown.
