Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
We live in strange times.
Tito Ortiz, like most of us, was caught unaware by this… comet? UFO?
No, actually, it’s just a billionaire’s launch of his private spaceship.
That’s right, Elon Musk’s SpaceX was firing a rocket that carried ten satellites into orbit. Known as the Falcon 9, the rocket launched was part of a space tech upgrade for the communications firm Iridium.
Tito was not the only celebrity surprised by this event; Tony Hawk and Don Cheadle weren’t sure what to make of the spindle-shaped object in the sky either.
Elon himself stole tomorrow’s Infowars headline:

No one tell Georges. St. Pierre.

An illustrated version of that Francis Ngannou fan poster? Cool.

Edson Barboza, like his UFC 219 opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov, has been doing combat sports for a long time.

If you haven’t seen this by now, you don’t follow Dana White
Speaking of Dana White, this is some cool art he’s posting.
Cub Swanson came in on his day off to hit pads with his baby daughter!
People seriously criticizing me for hanging out with my daughter & for showing up to work when I don’t have to

Chad Mendes is still ridiculously fast.

It looks like mixing up the left kick and left straight worked really well in this fight.

Good Reads
- The premiere WMMA expert, Schwan Humes, broke down Holly Holm’s skillset ahead of her fight with Cris Cyborg.
- The UFC changed up Reebok payment tiers, giving UFC newcomers an extra $1,000 dollars. That’s great. Almost makes up for the tens of thousands of dollars fighters in sponsor money fighters can no longer negotiate independently for. Oh, and they added mandatory promotional duties too? I’m sure the fighters collectively agreed to that.
- Lyoto Machida is a little worried about turning around so quickly after a brutal knockout loss, but he says he really doesn’t have a choice, so that’s great.
