MMA: UFC 247-Jones vs Reyes

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

“Our rematch is going to be epic” – Jon Jones, immediately after the UFC 247 main event (HIGHLIGHTS).

As it turns out, that rematch may be coming sooner than anticipated. UFC seemed to imply that Jones would next be facing the victor of Jan Blachowicz vs. Corey Anderson, and Blachowicz lived up to his end of the bargain with a thunderous first-round knockout win. Blachowicz and Jones even faced off through the cage in a pretty cool moment just seconds after the finish.

Instead, BloodyCanvas’s Jon Realejo reports that Reyes will receive an immediate rematch.

It’s a tough situation, because both men do deserve a big opportunity. In the eyes of many, Reyes deserves the title itself, as there’s a strong argument that he was the better man in their first encounter. No one has ever been able to land on Jones as consistently as “The Devastator,” or force Jones to frantically wrestle to preserve his consciousness. Reyes absolutely deserves a rematch.

Blachowicz, meanwhile, his won his last three bouts and seven of his previous eight. The Polish striker has never looked better, and he’s certainly the most deserving of the contenders that have yet to face “Bones.”

Someone had to get left behind, and as of right now, it appears Blachowicz is the odd man out.

Insomnia

Well, this is f***ing weird.

After his scrap with Paulo Costa, I wrote an article about how Yoel Romero exists and fights while at odds with the entire concept of time. I present further evidence:

Khabib gives his thoughts on jiu-jitsu:

Given her difficult exodus and journey to the states, it’s really cool to see Weili Zhang using both her own struggle and her country’s problems with the virus as motivation ahead of her title fight.

And on that note, I am quite excited for UFC 248’s co-main event. Both women impress, but my money is on Joanna Jedrzejczyk!

For those who have been following the sexual assault charges against Abdul Razak Alhassan, he was deemed “Not Guilty” in court today.

This is why I hate training takedowns in the gi. Judo guys stay back!

Slips, rips, and KO clips

Judging from the clip. Magomedov seemed to capitalize on his opponent’s leg injury, rather than finishing the fight solely via accumulation of low kicks. Smart!

I have no technical information to provide on this one.

A great example of offensive mindset and staying in the fight! Also, knees to the liver really hurt.

A different type of waterfall:
