Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

The upcoming “Baddest Motherf—ker” belt is really an unprecedented event. Nate Diaz — ever the visionary — called for a title defense of his “baddest motherf—ker in the game belt” opposite Jorge Masvidal after beating up on Anthony Pettis at UFC 241. Shockingly, UFC pretty promptly booked the fight, which is something of rarity on its own given Diaz’s mercurial nature, and is actually going ahead with the BMF belt!

As a result, UFC filed for trademarks on the phrase “BADDEST Motherf—ker.” In addition to naming the belt and event after Diaz’s quote, UFC intends to create merchandise as well. Check out trademark attorney Josh Gerben break it down a bit below:

This is definitely a smart move from the promotion, a guarantee that it will profit off all the weirdness — otherwise, why bother with the whole thing? However, one hopes that Diaz, whose quote started it all, will also see some extra cash as a result of his unique genius… I would not bet on it though.

A core concept in wrestling and grappling states: where the head goes, the body follows. It applies to Sumo as well.
