Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Tomorrow night’s pay-per-view (PPV) main event match up between Tito Ortiz and Alberto Del Rio over at Combate Americas fulfills every aspect of my “weird and wild” quota. Ortiz is 44 years of age, fresh off a year-old win over the still-warm body of legendary rival Chuck Liddell. Meanwhile, Del Rio is 42 years young himself and best known as a professional wrestler, but he did fight professional as recently as 2010.
What the two lack in youth, they have been making up for with intrigue, as the promotion for this fight has been largely political. Ortiz will walk into the cage with “TRUMP 2020” stamped across his buttocks or junk — it’s unclear which — while just yesterday, Del Rio was seen strangling a TV host in a Trump mask.
Is it any wonder the two got physical at today’s weigh-ins? I guess one does not simply age out of being “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy.”
I don’t usually join in the fight… https://t.co/2G06loiYGT

When Darren Till says you’re cutting too much weight, there may be a problem …
Just seen a photo of aldo
Wow he doesn’t look to good man
I don’t get this cut to 135
I think he is gonna badly struggle or may not even make it
I think it would of been wiser to go up rather than down
As you get older the cut gets harder not easier

Cory Sandhagen handled losing his bout with Frankie Edgar about as well as one could expect.
Modern day jiu-jitsu:
Weili Zhang’s star potential grows even further if she’s able to master English — credit to the many international athletes who undertake that difficult task.
Some interesting stats ahead of tomorrow’s main event:
This is some seriously brutal forehead/knuckle/elbow conditioning.
Slips, rips, and KO clips
We may have another killer Magomedsharipov inside the Octagon in a couple years.
This is perhaps the cleanest cartwheel kick I’ve ever seen.
Full send!

Stay active, my friends.
Midnight Music: An excellent fusion of soul and rock by one of the great, overlooked groups of the ‘60s.
