Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Look, the whole weight cutting process in MMA does not make the least bit of sense. Almost every single fighter endures unpleasant weeks of ultra specific dieting and water-loading, risking injury and illness while training at a calorie deficit. They eventually shed the pounds via sauna or simple hard work, which surely does not make for a better performance roughly 24 hours later.

The point of this arduous process: to fight an opponent who is roughly the same size and forced him/herself to undergo the same stupid process.

Consider Mike Perry a rebel to the system, a voice for the starved fighters, a crusader for change … or just an undisciplined athlete with a penchant for fatty foods. “Platinum” complained of feeling like death before missing weight by a whopping 5.5 lbs. earlier this morning, but his own social media shows most of his suffering was brought about by his own choices (certainly no greater symbolism there, no way).

Watch Perry mock opponent Tim Means while biting into a burger below in a video recorded less than two weeks from the bout:

Open mouth, insert burger foot.

Dustin Poirier hints at the obvious: with Khabib gone, his bout vs. Conor McGregor will be for the Lightweight title.

Things have just not been going great for Benson Henderson as of late.

They don’t think it be like it is, but it do.

Slips, rips, and KO clips

The end result of this clip does resemble a murder scene.

A big thanks to SumoSoul for continually providing us both SUMO! clips and context (even if I barely understand what any of it means):

Midnight Music: Australian rockers King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard released their 16th LP today, and well, KG sounds like most of their other releases. A little psych rock, a little garage, and a lot of weird tones.

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
