Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Former middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva was the closest thing the UFC had to an action hero for many years. No one could quite do what he did in real fights in the Octagon. Now he’s executing some of those moves against rather more cooperative opponents, on set.
This isn’t an uncommon route for current and former mixed martial artists. Josh Thomson spends time making Chinese movies; Ronda Rousey is doing live stunts in the WWE as well as small acting roles; Donald Cerrone makes money as a stunt man and actor; Cung Le, the only middleweight to have a showier skillset than Anderson, has been doing his own stunts in B-rated movies and TV for years. Andrei Arlovski is pretty good at fake fighting. Gina Carano is a good enough actor to carry whole movies alongside A-list stars like Channing Tatum. Randy Couture was in Expendables alongside Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham.
Eeees normal.
Anderson, whose later career has been marred by repeat drug test failures, has no shortage of ideas for his career after fighting, including a commentary gig on Netflix show Ultimate Beastmaster.

This female cop got his attention with those punches

Bellator 199 ratings were… not good.
Bellator 199: Bader vs King Mo drew a 0.16 in the demo.
Fedor vs. Mir: 0.22
Mitrione vs Nelson: 0.16
Rampage vs Chael: 0.32 https://t.co/q5P3AbSLov— smoogy (@smoogymma) May 15, 2018
Mike Perry at Jackson-Winklejohn should have been the subject of at least a YouTube series. We are missing out.
I don’t fully know what I’m watching but I too am entertained.
This white woman calling the cops is going to be a meme that endures, I see. I wonder how it feels to be the butt of the internet.
I sincerely hope this Liddell-Jones fight never comes to fruition, but this is a pretty good photoshop job.
Brian Kelleher responded to Sean O’Malley’s subtweet in savage fashion.
You’re fighting all pussies, handpicked by the Ufc for your bitch ass. Fight a top 6 guy see how you do. Test yourself don’t fight easy fights

I never noticed how difficult this is.
Watch Mike Markham’s mic skills. Dude has reflexes like a cat. Only a true World Class Ring Announcer could follow the lightning fast movement of the ref like that. pic.twitter.com/Uuk3NA020O

This does describe a surprising amount of mixed martial artists
I think the only one not here that needs to be here is: “Combat sports was better than living under a bridge for a while.” Can think of two fighters who have this story.

Old art memes are the best memes, especially when they are about grappling.
Always gonna take the chance to repost Vasyl Lomachenko because he’s the Ukranian Spiderman
Now this is a promo. And Tenshin Nasukawa is worthy of this.

Saint Rock is your trivia for the day
Today I learned that there is a saint named Saint Rock and his signature saint move is ripping off one of his pant legs to show you the big groin bubble he got from the plague pic.twitter.com/htDcNhzWOx

Also, that lump is a bubo — the classic sign for which the “bubonic” plague is named
