Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Back in June, Anderson Silva’s son, Gabriel Silva, followed in his father’s footsteps by making his first walk into the ring. At 20 years old, Gabriel Silva was victorious, winning via knockout. Since then, Silva has built up an undefeated 4-0 record, which led him to this past weekend’s FighersRep 9 event.
Against fellow undefeated fighter Christian Williams (3-0), Silva picked up another win, stopping Williams in the third round. It wasn’t just another victory, however, as Silva also picked up some hardware for his efforts: the ISK Southern California and FightersRep Middleweight (165 lbs) titles.
The full fight should be queued up above, but here’s a clip of the finish as well:
Since comparisons are inevitable, Gabriel Silva seems to share some of his father’s swagger and understanding of distance. Papa “Spider” must be proud of his son, who is looking to find his own lane in combat sports.
Insomnia
Is this the controversy that ends Dana White’s career?
A “Predator” and his trusty steed:
Maybe there is hope for Flyweight division even after the disastrous UFC Norfolk main event!

This picture was possibly taken before her fight with Xiaonan Yan, but it’s still great to see Karolina Kowalkiewicz post something happy that is not related to her gruesome eye injury.

Aljamain Sterling with a very realistic outlook on the upcoming Bantamweight title fight:
This is what experts call the “flow state.”

It’s really tough to escape the arm-across guillotine once it’s locked in … unless you’re “Jacare” Souza.

Holy crap, I’ve never seen this, but it’s seriously brutal. That stoppage is something out of a horror movie and the inverse of Cutelaba vs. Ankalaev.
Idk of y’all have seen this but here’s Holly Holm getting ko’d in boxing, probably one of the worst stoppages I’ve ever seen. pic.twitter.com/7vD8yaSBZV

Slow-mo really makes it painfully clear how every punch landed to the chin.

Random Land
A surprisingly serene selection for tonight’s random post:
Midnight Music: I posted the lead single a month or so ago, but I actually got around to listening to Mac Miller’s posthumous album Circles today. There’s probably more singing than actual rapping, and it’s not my favorite Mac Miller release. Still, as the arguable closing statement to his discography, its mellow vibe fits with an unfortunate grace.
Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
