Miesha Tate doesn’t believe that she will fight at UFC 200, but she promises to be ready for any challenger nonetheless.
Less than four months away from the biggest UFC event in history, the lineup for UFC 200 is still a big question mark. According to newly-crowned women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, at least we can cross her out of the mix.
“I’ve been kind of tossing around the idea if it would be possible to fight at UFC 200. That would be awesome, but I really have no idea what the UFC has in mind for that,” Tate told reporters at a UFC Fight Night 85 media event in Brisbane, Australia on Thursday.” I think they already have a couple of title fights, so it may not be realistic. But I’ll stay ready for that, if that’s something that becomes an option or available, then great. If not then we’ll see what comes next.”
Tate has won the belt from Holly Holm in spectacular fashion at UFC 196. And while a third fight against arch nemesis Ronda Rousey seems like the most likely option for her first title defense at the moment, Tate says she is open to take on all comers put in front of ger.
“I know that there’s a lot of really top contenders, a lot of girls in the division, that are really chomping at the bit,” Tate told reporters at today’s UFC Fight Night 85 media session in Australia. “I think I’ve been called out by probably everybody in the top-6, if not potentially the top-10. So, they’re all gunning for me, and they’re all dangerous, and they all have their different attributes to bring to the table, so I think my job as the champ is just to stay ready for whoever.

UFC 200 takes place on July 9 in the newly-built T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. A heavyweight fight between Cain Velasquez and Travis Browne as well as a middleweight bout between Gegard Mousasi and Derek Brunson are the only match-ups targeted for the event, yet.
