Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is assembling an interesting lightweight battle between two of its most seasoned veterans in the form of Jim Miller vs. Clay Guida, considered for the upcoming UFC Newark event in August.
That’s according to a report from ESPN.
Miller (30-13, 1 NC) has struggled mightily over the last three years, dropping four in a row before sandwiching a pair of wins around a loss to Charles Oliveira. The soon-to-be 36 “A10” is unquestionably in the twilight of his career, but remains a threat anywhere the fight goes.
Similarly, Guida (35-18) also came up empty to Oliveira and continues to be hot and cold in the second half of his cage fighting career. “The Carpenter,” now 37, is fresh off his unanimous decision win over former champion, BJ Penn.
No main event has been reported for UFC Newark; however, Matt Schnell is expected to collide with Jordan Espinosa on the ESPN “Prelims” portion of the card.
