The fighter confessed to the crime after being detained and admitted he was acting alone.
Several assailants attacked Ilya Guskov, an employee in Moscow’s Department of Education, hospitalizing the government official. One of the assailants has since been identified as a former MMA fighter.
According to the investigation, Guskov had arrived to work and was emerging from his car when an unknown assailant stepped out from behind him and landed a powerful blow to Guskov’s head. Guskov was knocked unconscious, at which point the assailant began to rummage through his pockets. When a security guard came to intervene, the robbers attacked him as well and continued their search of the victim. When they were unable to find anything of value, they escaped.
The incident, which took place on February 11, 2019, was captured on security cameras.
Both the security guard and the Ministry employee were hospitalized with several head injuries, including a concussion. Vesti reported that one of the assailants was detained the following day. The unnamed suspect, revealed to be a former MMA fighter, confessed to the crime and told investigators that he restored to robbery because he has been unable to find work in Moscow.
“I didn’t take anything,” the former fighter stated. “I wanted to take, but it didn’t work,”
