Sputnik Uzbekistan reports that on August 11th a graphic video was posted online showing a brutal confrontation outside the Aurum 898 nightclub in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The incident, which occurred days prior, lead to the death of 25-year-old MMA fighter Jamshid Kenzhayev.
Sputnik reports that Kenzhayev was attempting to enter Aurum 898 with a knife. That outlet states that after he was refused entry Kenzhayev struck a bouncer in the abdomen. RT reportsthat it was a bouncer who initially struck Kenzhayev in the abdomen.
Footage reveals that after the initial clash, chaos broke out around the outside of the club. Kenzhayev, at list four bouncers, and a handful of bystanders exchange blows before Kenzhayev is dragged to the ground. While being held on the ground, Kenzhayev is circled by security staff who begin beating him with their punches, kicks, and batons.
After a stool is thrown over the head of the prone Kenzhayev, a man appears to repeatedly stab the downed fighter. When this happens, the crowd around the melee disperses. Kenzhayev’s white clothes are then shown to be drenched with blood.
Kenzhayev later died of multiple injuries at a hospital in Tashkent’s Yunusabad district. RT reports that Kenzhayev was stabbed with the same knife he allegedly tried to take into the club. Sputnik reports that police arrested three bouncers over the killing, Saidazim K., 24, Shodali K., 29, and Zahankhir Ya., 26.
A memorial post for Kenzhayev was posted by Instagram user mma_uzbekistan. That user claimed that Kenzhayev was an International Master of Sports in freestyle wrestling and an Uzbekistan national champion who participated at the Asian Games in both the 61 and 65 kg categories.
