Invicta FC 36 is scheduled for August 9th in Kansas City, KS.

In a press release sent out on Tuesday Invicta Fighting Championships announced the line-up for their next card; Invicta FC 36.

Headlining the event is former Invicta matchmaker Kaitlin Young (7-3), who will be taking on former Invicta title challenger Pam Sorenson (10-9-1) for the vacant Invicta featherweight championship.

That belt was last held by Felicia Spencer, who abdicated the 145-pound throne so she could impressively debut for the UFC earlier this year. Spencer beat Sorenson to claim that title at Invicta FC 32 last November.

That loss to Spencer — via submission — is Sorenson’s last contest. Sorenson holds a 3-2 record in Invicta with victories over Jan Finney and Jessica-Rose Clark.

After a four year hiatus Young — whose first pro fight was in 2007 — returned to combat sport last August when she defeated ‘King’ Reina Miura at RIZIN 12. Since then she has reeled off two straight TKO victories inside the Invicta cage (versus Sarah Patterson and Faith McMah).

The co-main event of Invicta FC 36 is slated to involve Janaisa ‘Evil Princess’ Morandin (10-2) versus Emily Ducote in the strawweight division. Morandin last fight was a submission loss to fellow Brazilian Virna Jandiroba at Invicta FC 31. That bout was for the Invicta FC strawweight title.

Morandin was supposed to fight Brianna Van Buren at May’s Invicta FC Phoenix Rising event, but the bout was canceled after Morandin missed weight. Prior to that Morandin beat Kinberly Novaes and lost to Livia Renata Souza.

Ducote hopes to make her Invicta FC debut on the card. Her previous contest was a victory in the Xtreme Fight Night promotion. Prior to that she lost three fights in a row in Bellator. Among those was a submission defeat to champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane.

The card also features another Invicta appearance for UFC veteran Kailin Curran and the debut of Lindsey VanZandt, who is coming off a win over popular Japanese fighter Rena Kubota. Interesting prospects on the card include atomweight Anastasia Nikolakakos also appears on the card after impressing in her Invicta debut last December and Chantel Coates who is 1-0 after pulling off the fastest knockout in Invicta history last year.
