Should there be an agreed upon set of obligations when cornering a fighter? What can we possibly agree on?

Ten years ago when I was just a fan watching Chris Leben vs Yoshihiro Akiyama fight at UFC 116 I remember feeling uncomfortable, knowing that I was watching people take years off of their lives. It was one of the few times watching MMA that gave me pause. While I’ve made peace with my participation in the sport, it’s worth doing a bit of self-reflection from time to time.
