Both flyweights are coming off decision losses to Lauren Murphy.
“The Happy Warrior” and “KGB” are on a collision course to meet this September.
MMAjunkie reports that verbal agreements are in place for women’s flyweights Roxanne Modafferi and Andrea Lee to fight at a UFC event tentatively slotted for September 12th.
Modafferi (24-17) started 2020 with a dominant upset win over highly touted prospect Maycee Barber at UFC 246. She was unable to replicate her success against Lauren Murphy last month, dropping a unanimous decision in a fight that was largely contested on the feet. The 37-year-old is a women’s MMA pioneer who’s turned what was a six-fight losing streak into a 9-6 record over her last 15 fights, including a spirited performance in a title fight loss to Nicco Montano.
Lee (11-4) is arguably in must-win territory if she wants to remain within event decent distance of a title shot. Like Modafferi, Lee lost a decision to Lauren Murphy, albeit a split decision. She also dropped a split decision to Joanne Calderwood at UFC 242 last September, which had snapped the former LFA women’s flyweight champion’s six-fight winning streak.
No other fights have been reported for this event. It is expected that this card will take place in Las Vegas.
