Floyd Mayweather just made $9 million in less than three minutes of work.
The will they-won’t they saga of Floyd Mayweather vs. Tenshin Nasukawa came to an end this morning inside Saitama Super Arena in Japan, and it was even less competitive than expected. Mayweather spent most of the first round of their New Year’s Even bout taunting, flicking out both hands and smiling while a dead-serious Nasukawa tried to jab at range.
Nasukawa went on to land a clean overhand left, which seemed to flip a switch. Mayweather dropped him hard with a left hook and the kickboxing wunderkind never got his legs back. Nasukawa tried to throw back, only to get blasted by a double right hook to the body and head that put him on his back. Again Nasukawa rose, but a tight 3-2 turned his legs to jelly once again, prompting his corner to throw in the towel.
This was an exhibition, so it’s technically a draw, but it certainly didn’t seem like that to Nasukawa, who was utterly heartbroken.
Best of luck, champ.
