An important bantamweight showdown between Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandhagen is expected to headline the upcoming UFC event on Oct. 10, according to Combate, though a location and venue have yet to be announced.
At this point the two (and perhaps only) leading candidates are UFC APEX in Las Vegas and Flash Arena on Yas Island.
Moraes (23-6-1) has not competed since his split-decision victory over Jose Aldo at UFC 245 last December, a victory that actually sent “Junior” into a division title shot (peak MMA). “Magic” and his family were subsequently sidelined with coronavirus earlier this year.
As for Sandhagen (12-2), his seven-fight win streak — which included a perfect 5-0 record inside the Octagon — came to a screeching halt at the hands of Aljamain Sterling, who submitted the Coloradan at UFC 250 back in June.
Moraes is ranked No. 1 at 135 pounds against No. 4 for Sandhagen.
Elsewhere on the Oct. 10 fight card, Ben Rothwell returns to heavyweight action against the venerable Marcin Tybura, while Brazilian middleweight veterans Markus Perez and Rodolfo Vieira hook ‘em up at 185 pounds.
