Morning Report: Jon Jones tells Alexander Gustafsson he’s had enough of ‘media stunts’ and is focusing on Daniel Cormier, his next ‘victim’

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones can’t seem to get away from Alexander Gustafsson. After Gustafsson was forced to withdraw from their rematch at UFC 178 due to a torn meniscus the Swede isn’t letting Jones move on just yet.

Gustafsson reached out to Jones Thursday, wryly apologizing for leaving his mark on the champ’s face. Jones re-opened that same cut above his right eye last week during a training accident.

@jonnybones, really sorry for the deep cut I gave you in our last fight. At least you will have a memory from me every time someone opens it up for you. To not make your other eye jealous for not having a cut, I promise to leave a memory on that one as well next time we fight. Now, take care

Appearing a bit perturbed, Jones responded to Gustafsson Sunday by asking him to put a stop to what he called ‘media stunts.’

Yes Alex you cut me but you didn’t win the fight. Focus on things you can control like recovery. You had your chance pic.twitter.com/8OLBVmCtVz

— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) August 4, 2014

Now please stop with the media stunts so I can focus on my next victim. thank you.

Jones defends his light heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 178 Sept. 27 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
