Morning Report: UFC president Dana White and War Machine featured in GQ’s ‘Biggest Sleazebags in Sports’

‘Fight week, blog week’ hasn’t been great for UFC president Dana White. After being found to be in breach of the promotion’s regulatory protocol for removing judge Howard Hughes from officiating at UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Le, White is featured in the September issue of Gentlemen’s Quarterly as being among ‘The 25 Biggest Sleazebags in Sports.’ Not only did White make the cut, he placed in the top ten. Coming in at No. 8, here’s how GQ characterized White:

Turns out underpaying your UFC employees, bullying rivals, and generally impersonating Don King as a bald white guy doesn’t do wonders for you charisma!

GQ also annotated White’s entry with a dollar bill symbol, marking him as a ‘Greedy sleaze’ on their ‘Sleaze Key.’

White was joined on the list by Ultimate Fighter and Bellator veteran Jon ‘War Machine‘ Koppenhaver. Landing at No. 7 on GQ’s list, Koppenhaver earned four sleaze symbols for ‘D**khead, Pervy, Says-horrible-sh*t and Violent’ sleaze. NFL lineman Richie Incognito happened to earn the same four marks. Here’s how GQ described the fighter:

He’s been thrown in jail multiple times for multiple bar fights in multiple states. He once joked on Twitter about raping his girlfriend. He got kicked out of the UFC, then got kicked out of the porn business after going on a rampage at an industry pool party. He now runs a clothing shop called Alpha Male S**t, where you can buy T-shirts with DONT BE A PU**Y written backward on them.

FANPOST OF THE DAY

Today’s Fanpost of the Day comes via jaywolf1.

2014 Card of the Year Candidate: ONEFC 19, Reign of Champions! Ben Askren, Shinya Aoki, Roger Huerta, and more!

Hello friends!

I wanted to make a fanpost so I could talk with y’all about an event this Friday Aug.29 that I’ve been ULTRA-PUMPED about for awhile now: ONEFC 19, Reign of Champions

This is an absolute MUST SEE Card Of The Year Candidate and I’ll share with you why…

1. ONEFC’s superior ruleset is 10x better than UFC’s and doesn’t favor wrestlers like the “unified” rules do.

For those that don’t know yet, ONEFC allows PRIDErules (kicks/knees to grounded opponents), AND all elbows (including 12-6s!), AND is fought in a Cage so no “re-starts” b/c of ropes! Also, they have unique judging criteria that scores the fight as a whole and puts emphasis on things like near-finishes instead of positional wrestling. Go to ONEFC’s website to read more about it in detail, and then tell me that’s not the best ruleset ever!!! Plus they brought back Yellow Cards for stalling and the OG PRIDE Lady announcer! ONEFC has this total PRIDE nostalgia feel to it that’s absolutely fantastic!

Check out the rest of the post here.
