Belal Muhammad wants an immediate rematch with Leon Edwards.
Belal Muhammad can’t believe Leon Edwards has the audacity to call for a title shot following the controversial result of their short notice welterweight bout at UFC Vegas 21.
The main event was ruled a No Contest (NC) after Edwards landed a horrific accidental eye poke on Muhammad in the second round, and ‘Rocky’ has since called for a title shot against Kamaru Usman, the reigning UFC welterweight champion.
Muhammad fortunately suffered no permanent damage to his eye and has called for an immediate rematch with Edwards, labelling the Brit ‘soft’ for demanding a title shot.
Never saw someone act so tough after poking someone in the eye the fight was just getting goin and if your satisfied to end it on that note your soft you ain’t getting a title fight off that I took the fight on 3 week notice and came to fight run it back @ufc

“Never saw someone act so tough after poking someone in the eye the fight was just getting goin and if your satisfied to end it on that note your soft you ain’t getting a title fight off that I took the fight on 3 week notice and came to fight run it back @ufc,”Muhammad wrote on Twitter after being discharged from hospital.
Muhammad accepted the fight on short notice after Khamzat Chimaev pulled out of the matchup due to lingering COVID-19 symptoms. Edwards was winning the fight until the eye poke in the second round and, given the disparity in rankings and controversial nature of the result, it’s unlikely the UFC will want to run this one back.
