Muhammed Lawal’s Bellator debut is set, with a date, time, location, and now, an opponent. He was named on Wednesday, although most of us will need help pronouncing it.
“King Mo” will face Przemyslaw Mysiala, a Polish fighter who trains through London Shootfighters, the promotion announced on Wednesday. The fight will be a first-round bout in the season eight light-heavyweight tournament.
Mysiala holds a 16-7 career record, according to Sherdog’s database, though he’s just 2-2 in his last four fights, and is coming off a first-round TKO loss via doctor stoppage to Jason Jones at BAMMA 9 in March.
The 30-year-old will be major his major organizational debut, and is largely unknown to American audiences.
Lawal (8-1, 1 no contest) is likely to be a considerable favorite in the match-up.
He will be competing for the first time in over a year, when he had a victory over Lorenz Larkin overturned to a no decision after testing positive for the steroid drostanalone.
The bout takes place as the co-main event of a Jan. 24 show from the WinStar World Casino’s 3,400-seat Global Event Center in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
In the main event, welterweight champion Ben Askren will attempt to defend his title against challenger Karl Amoussou.
