Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welcomes Tyson Nam to the Octagon for the first time in his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career, after an injury to Alex Perez left Sergio Pettis without a date to the big dance.
Nam vs. Pettis, contested at 125 pounds, is expected to join the UFC Fight Night 159 fight card on ESPN+, according to a report from MMA Fighting, scheduled for Sat., Sept. 21 inside Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico.
Nam (16-9-1), who was last seen dropping a decision to Zhalgas Zhumagulov in Kazakhstan, has fought all over the world, but is perhaps best known to stateside fans for his stint in World Series of Fighting (WSOF), which has since been rebranded as Professional Fighters League (PFL).
As for Pettis (17-5), he’s looking to right the ship after back-to-back decision losses to Rob Font and Jussier Formiga. “S.P.” holds wins over top names like Joseph Benavidez and John Moraga, just to name a few.
