Neiman Gracie knows nothing about his opponent, but that’s not a problem

Neiman Gracie enters the World Series of Fighting cage for his second professional fight on Saturday, but who is he fighting?

The Renzo Gracie protégé, who made his MMA debut with a first-round submission over Darren Costa in September, returns to competition on July 5 in Florida, but he doesn’t know anything about his opponent.

“Well, I don’t even know you have the correct name of my opponent because they changed it again,” Gracie told MMAFighting.com. “I was going to fight David Mundell, but it’s going to be Dustin Holyko now. They changed it again.”

“They kept changing the date of the fight and my opponent. They switched my opponent four times until they found this one,” he added. “The others kept saying they got hurt, I guess, so they changed my opponents a few times.”

The 25-year-old Gracie couldn’t find videos of his opponent’s previous fights on the internet, but he says that’s not a problem.

“Unfortunately, I couldn’t find much about him on the internet,” he said. “The only thing I know is that he’s from a good team in Daytona, where I’m fighting, and that he’s 2-0 as a pro. I couldn’t find much about him, but that’s not a problem. I have to focus on me, not on what he does best. Actually, that’s good and bad at the same time. It’s bad because I can’t study what he does best, but it’s also good because I can focus on me and what I can do best.

“I had a good training camp for this fight. I was supposed to fight before, but my fight was cancelled all the time. I’m training hard since March, so I’m excited to finally be able to fight.”

Gracie vs. Holyko is a catchweight, part of the Brazilian’s transition to the welterweight division.

“I made my MMA debut at 185 pounds, and I’m cutting down to 170,” he said. “This fight is going to be a 175-pound catchweight, and that was the biggest difference for me in my training camp. I changed my diet a long time ago to make the weight.”

WSOF 11 takes place at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla., and is headlined by a lightweight title fight between Justin Gaethje vs. Nick Newell.
