Derrick Lewis is back in the heavyweight Top 10.
“The Black Beast” captured his second straight win — and record-setting 15th UFC knockout — by planishing Rodrigo Nascimento as part of the UFC St. Louis MMA event last weekend at Enterprise Center in Missouri. The Brazilian, who snapped a three-fight winning streak with the loss, remains ranked at No. 15 in defeat.
Elsewhere on the charts, 170-pound striker Joaquin Buckley held his position at No. 11 in the welterweight division after outlasting unranked opponent Nursulton Ruziboev. As for Carlos Ulberg, he landed at No. 11 in the 205-pound lineup by trashing Alonzo Menifield, who slipped two places to No. 13.
Here’s how UFC compiles its official rankings:
Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.
