UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori took one step closer to his Israel Adesanya rematch, turning away middleweight motormouth Kevin Holland in the UFC Vegas 23 main event last weekend in “Sin City.” The 17-4-1 “Italian Dream” jumped three spots to No. 3 on the 185-pound chart while “Trailblazer” fell out of the Top 10.
In the UFC Vegas 23 co-main event, Arnold Allen climbed two rungs on the featherweight ladder with his commanding performance against Sodiq Yusuff. In addition, strawweight submission specialist Mackenzie Dern cracked the Top 5 by tapping Nina Nunes, who lost her place on the women’s pound-for-pound list in defeat.
Here’s how the rankings are compiled:
Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.
