New UFC interim 145 lbs champ Max Holloway isn’t going to ‘beg’ for Conor McGregor

With his win over Anthony Pettis at UFC 206, Holloway isn’t ‘begging’ to fight McGregor.

Max Holloway made a statement at UFC 206.

As well as amassing a perfect ten-fight win streak, ‘Blessed’ put on the performance of his career when he TKO’d Anthony Pettis at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre in Ontario to become the new interim featherweight champion.

His sights are now set on Brazilian MMA veteran Jose Aldo, who is now listed as a two-time UFC world champion after Conor McGregor was stripped of the 145 lbs title in November.

Speaking of ‘The Notorious’, Holloway isn’t too fussed about fighting him anymore. Holloway has spoke about a rematch with McGregor in the past, but he certainly isn’t going to beg for the fight.

“I ain’t over here begging for fights,” Holloway said at the UFC 206 post-fight press conference, per Damon Martin of FOX Sports. “If that guy wants to fight me, he can come fight me,” Holloway said towards McGregor. “I ain’t going to beg. We’ve got so (many) guys on their knees begging to fight him. If he wants to fight me, he can come see me.

“If he wants to fight the best, you come fight ‘Blessed’.”

In 2013, when Holloway was just 22 years old, McGregor handed the Hawaiian his second straight UFC loss. That loss, however, seemed to ignite a spark in Holloway that ultimately led to his acquisition of the interim featherweight title, and perhaps the official title.

The newly-crowned FW champion is likely to face Jose Aldo in a title unification bout next year.
