Hey, if it’s good enough for MMA newcomer Greg Hardy, then it’s good enough for Newell.
Indeed, UFC president Dana White declared yesterday (Tues., April 24, 2018) that he would give “Notorious” his answer today, and apparently the brash head honcho and Nick’s management team came to an agreement to have the Lightweight standout show off his skills inside the Octagon.
Nick has amassed an 14-1 record competing for World Series of Fighting (WSOF) and Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) with his lone defeat coming at the hands of Justin Gaethje under the WSOF umbrella back in 2014 via second round knockout. Having competed inside the cage for a a professional for nearly a decade, Nick’s disability hasn’t prevented him for dominating his foes to the tune of 11 finishes with only three going the distance.
But, it seems UFC hasn’t seen enough of him to offer him a contract without further proving himself. Meanwhile, this is happening again.
But don’t cry for Nick just yet, as he is determined to prove his worth.
“I want to thank Dana White, Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard for believing in me and giving me a shot,” Newell told MMA Fighting. “I still have to go out there and deliver. I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
How about it, Maniacs, are your surprised by this move?
