Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight title contender, Francis Ngannou, was hoping to clear the air with persnickety promotion president, Dana White, after their relationship turned sour in early 2018.
The good news is, neither side has been holding their breath.
“I haven’t talked to Dana White since one year ago, maybe more,” Ngannou told The Ariel Helwani MMA Show. “I haven’t talked to him. We are not calling each other. That would change what?”
White, who dislikes former champion Stipe Miocic, positioned Ngannou to capture the crown at UFC 220; however, Miocic was able to expose the still-green “Predator” in a five-round lesson in well-roundedness.
That prompted White to bury Ngannou in the combat sports media.
There isn’t much the “scary” Cameroonian can do at this point besides win his fights and wait for a title shot. That’s not going to happen while Daniel Cormier is off doing his own thing, but I would imagine another win for Ngannou, coupled with his drubbing of Cain Velasquez last weekend in Phoenix, would put him right back into a title fight.
Time will tell.
