Francis Ngannou expects an entirely different outcome in a rematch against current UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.
Heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou was on an undefeated run in the UFC before he ran into Stipe Miocic at UFC 220 in early 2018. It was followed by another loss to Derrick Lewis, putting him in a brief slump.
“The Predator” had bounced back since then, scoring three straight first-round TKO wins, two of which came against former champions. With a renewed sense of confidence, he is expecting an entirely different outcome when he faces the current heavyweight titleholder.
“I’ve been waiting for it,” Ngannou told MMA Junkie of his rematch opportunity. “After my last fight, Dana White said we’re going to see how it plays out between ‘DC’ and Stipe. I’m willing. I’m ready for it.”
If it were up to him, he will be able to get his chance before the year ends.
“I think I’m going to have my revenge, and definitely it’s not going to go the same way as the last one,” he said. “2019, hopefully – that would be great.”
Ngannou last fought in late June in Minnesota, where he defeated Junior dos Santos in less than a minute and a half. He also bagged a $50,000 bonus for Performance of the Night.
