The war of words is heating up between Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones. Now all we need is a sign from the UFC that an actual fight will come together in the future.

Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones may not have a date to fight each other in the cage, but that hasn’t stopped them from trading endless barbs across social media.

Jones hasn’t fought since his iffy February 2020 decision win over Dominick Reyes at UFC 247. Given how controversial the judging was on that one, an immediate rematch was likely to be next. But instead “Bones” decided to give up the light heavyweight belt and start preparing for a move to heavyweight.

There’s no clear sign of when that debut a weight class up may happen — there seems to be a big chasm between the money Jon expects to be paid and what the UFC is willing to pony up. Regardless, “Bones” continues to jab at new heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Whether he’s coming out ahead in the exchanges is up to interpretation.

Jones kicked things off with some good ol’ fashioned America vs. the world talk. Now Ngannou is firing back on all cylinders.

That ‘decision fighter’ biz seemed to get Jones pretty animated.

Jones may have the record for most subs in the light heavyweight division, but his recent streak has indeed featured a lot of decisions: three of his past four bouts have gone the distance, with one resulting in a split decision and the aforementioned Reyes decision that many felt should have gone Dominick’s way.

But … Jones started it?

There you have it, Maniacs. How do you score this round of Jones vs. Ngannou on Twitter?
