Nick Diaz Teases Move To Bellator

Nick Diaz isn’t shy when speaking his mind when he’s unhappy with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Neither is his younger bother, Nate. Over the weekend, Nick threw some shade at his current employer, teasing a move over to Bellator MMA after he felt he was getting lowballed by UFC during contract negotiations for his much-anticipated return to action.

One of Nick’s Instagram followers — courtesy of BJPenn.com — managed to catch a screen grab of Nick’s “story,” insinuating that things weren’t going too well between the two sides, and a move over to UFC’s biggest rival to work for Scott Coker was the better option.

According to UFC president Dana White, Diaz is in line to return to action at UFC 235 on March 2, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada against Jorge Masvidal in what would be his first taste of action in three years. Though it seems the Stockton slugger hasn’t signed on the dotted line just yet due to contractual differences.

While it’s no secret Nick and White have butted heads in the past, Diaz seems to be very fond of Bellator MMA president Scott Coker. That’s because the two have a lengthy history of working together stemming back from their Strikeforce days. Diaz competed for the now-defunct promotion six times while Coker was leading the way, as he was one of the poster boys for the promotion as its Welterweight champion.

Since returning to the Octagon in 2011, Diaz has only competed four times, going 1-2-1 in the span which saw him go through battles with United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA), sending him to the sidelines for an extended period. But it seems his agent and the powers-that-be over at UFC can’t see eye-to-eye for his next contract.

As far as a move over to Bellator MMA, it may not come so easy for Nick if he’s still contractually tied down with the the Endeavor-owned mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion for more fights.
