Unbeaten Polaris star Nick Rodriguez is set to enter the upcoming open weight tournament.

After an impressive performance against former UFC champion Luke Rockhold in the main event of Polaris 12, Nick Rodriguez has made a quick turnaround and signed on for the upcoming Polaris Absolute Grand Prix (h/t mmafighting.com). Rodriguez has won 3 straight in the promotion, previously defeating UK stars Ben Dyson and Ash Amos.

Before he sets up camp for Polaris, Rodriguez will be competing in a tag team grappling match at Submission Underground where he will paired up with Craig Jones to face a 10th Planet team. Rodriguez’ meteoric rise up through the grappling world culminated with a spot in the finals of ADCC 2019 where he tasted defeat at the hands of Kaynan Duarte. Duarte would go on to defeat Rodriguez in a rematch a few months later, but Rodriguez might get his chance at revenge as Kaynan is also set to compete in the Polaris Grand Prix.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Nathan Orchard has signed on as the lightest competitor and will be looking to rebound from his Polaris loss against Ross Nicholls.

In addition to the tournament, it is expected that there will be a title fight and a number of super fights on the card.

Polaris 13 takes place on April 4th in Newport, Wales and will be aired live on UFC Fight Pass.
