Northern Irish fighter and TUF Smashes winner Norman Parke posted today about being released by the UFC.

It looks like Norman Parke won’t be fighting in the Octagon anytime soon. The UFC lightweight turned to social media today to announce that he has been released from the promotion, and that he’s looking to fight in the summer. Here’s what he had to say on his Facebook page:

“I just wanna say a huge thanks to the ufc for giving me the great opportunity to compete at the highest level in combat sports.. Iv had many great memories that will stay with me forever!! Im now looking to fight this summer so what ever comes up il be ready to go!! On any show anywhere..

Thank you to all my fans for following my journey.

I will be back

This aint no April fools joke.”

Parke (21-5-1) was the winner of the lightweight portion of TUF Smashes, defeating Colin Fletcher by decision in the finals. After winning two more fights, he went to a draw with Leo Santos after being deducted a point for shorts-grabbing. Yet another win earned him a big step up in competition, but he dropped two close split decisions in a row to Gleison Tibau and Francisco Trinaldo.

He got back into the win column by defeating Reza Madadi in October, but a February loss to Rustam Khabilov led to his release. He was 5-3-1 in nine Octagon trips overall.
