A women’s bantamweight match has been added to the recently announced Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir event as Sara McMann (6-0) gets set to make her promotional debut versus Liz ‘Girl-Rilla’ Carmouche (7-2).
McMann recently signed with Strikeforce, moving over from the Invicta FC promotion.
News of the matchup was first broke by MMAFighting.com on Friday.
Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir is expected to take place on November 3, 2012 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Fans should expect to see McMann vs. Carmouche on the Showtime broadcast of the event with the winner earning a likely title shot at promotion champ Ronda Rousey.
McMann, a former Olympic Wrestling Silver medalist is undefeated in her pro-career, churning out six fights in fourteen months time. She recently earned a unanimous decision over Shayna Baszier in a Inficta FC contender bout, winning a unanimous decision at Invicta’s second ever event. So far McMann has earned three wins by decision, two by decision and one by TKO.
Carmouche has won two straight, competing on the same Invicta FC cards as McMann this year. ‘Girl-Rilla’ recently submitted Kaitlin Young in July to earn her seventh pro-victory. Her other win was a first round TKO finish of Ashleigh Curry in April at the first Invicta FC event.
