That was fast.
Just a few days removed from her technical knockout win over Zarah Fairn dos Santos at UFC Norfolk, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s featherweight contender, Felicia Spencer, will face off against reigning 145-pound titleholder, Amanda Nunes, at the upcoming UFC 250 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., May 9, 2020 inside Ginasio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
That’s according to a report from ESPN.
Nunes (19-4), who also wears gold at 135 pounds, has pretty much murdered the competition in both weight classes, racking up 10 straight wins with seven violent finishes. That includes knockout victories over Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, and Holly Holm, just to name a few.
As for Spencer (8-1), she’s no stranger to the best the featherweight division has to offer, having already gone toe-to-toe with 145-pound smashing machine, Cris Cyborg, back at UFC 240. While she came up short on the judges’ scorecards, “Feenom” is one of the few fighters to lose to the Brazilian without getting knocked into next week.
She’ll need that chin against a power puncher like “Lioness.”
Headlining the UFC 250 extravaganza is the men’s bantamweight showdown between Henry Cejudo (champion) and Jose Aldo (challenger). Elsewhere on the card, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Mauricio Rua hook ‘em up at 205 pounds.
