No surprise, but Anthony Joshua is heavily favored to beat Andy Ruiz this Saturday. I know, right? Get the full breakdown here.
Saturday night sees action from one of boxing’s Heavyweight champions (and, depending on who you ask, the sport’s top Heavyweight) when Anthony Joshua makes his US debut, taking on Andy Ruiz Jr. live on DAZN. Ruiz comes in on a month’s notice after original opponent Jarrell Miller failed a drug test. Here are the latest odds on the fight, courtesy of OddsShark:
Anthony Joshua -3000
Andy Ruiz +1100
Those are wide odds, and they should be. Joshua is undefeated, he has the power advantage, he’s the bigger man with the significantly greater reach, he’s more technical… really it all stacks up in his favor. Ruiz last had a big fight in 2016 when he dropped a decision to Joseph Parker. He did well in that fight, but it’s hard to say that was enough to stand up to Joshua. Ruiz is a tough fighter though, who Parker couldn’t put away. Maybe the big question here will be if Joshua can take him out (and I suspect he can).
Here are odds on the rest of the DAZN main card:
Callum Smith -5000
Hassan N’Dam +1400Katie Taylor -1800
Delfine Persoon +850
So, yeah – this is not a super competitive card. Interesting fighters worth checking out? Sure, no doubt. But no fights to be found that are close or really worth a bet.
Finally, here’s a look at a few other upcoming marquee fights we’ll be covering in the coming weeks here at Bloody Elbow:
