If the judge doesn’t get you, the injury bug will.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight title contender, Volkan Oezdemir, has been felled by injury (broken nose) and bounced from his Alexander Gustafsson fight, previously scheduled for Aug. 4, 2018 in Los Angeles, California.
That’s according to a report from ESPN.
A replacement has not been named at this time and the promotion only has a few short weeks to get it done. Considering how disgruntled “The Mauler” has been in recent days, it would not come as a surprise if he bails.
Romero was open to fighting Gustafsson, and that was discussed before Oezdemir, but he can’t on Aug. 4 due to his recent surgery. https://t.co/D8Ce1meTNe

As for Oezdemir, no question this has to be a frustrating turn of events. Previously pegged for a Shogun Rua fight at this weekend’s UFC Hamburg event, “No Time” has now been bumped on three separate occasions.
