Michael Chandler waited nearly 700 days for a fight that never came to fruition.
The former Bellator MMA lightweight champion, who has not competed since losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 281 back in late 2022, will finally make his Octagon return in a rematch against Charles Oliveira.
The action takes place at UFC 309 on Nov. 16 in New York City.
“Iron” is currently the +200 underdog on Draft Kings, with Oliveira clocking in as the -245 favorite. Chandler was stopped by the Brazilian when they first went to war as part of the UFC 262 fight card in May 2021.
“A truth as old as time in fight sports … nothing to lose, everything to gain,” Chandler wrote on Twitter. “Hate it or love it … this is my time. The break was exactly what I needed to fall back in love with the sport. Now we make our title run.”
Chandler (23-8) is ranked four spots below Oliveira (34-10, 1 NC) at No. 6.
UFC 309 will be headlined by the heavyweight title fight pitting reigning champion Jon Jones against former division kingpin Stipe Miocic. Jones is currently the -410 betting favorite against +320 for Miocic.
