The Rogan comments start at 3:05.
UFC color commentator and Spotify podcasting giant Joe Rogan continues to take his lumps in the mainstream media after recently telling young people to pass on the coronavirus vaccine if they self-diagnose as “healthy.”
This week’s lashing comes from Last Week Tonight host John Oliver, who is no stranger to UFC outbursts after last November’s chaotic election. In fact, the snarky Brit spent his entire show yelling about the talking heads who push anti-vax rhetoric.
“If you’re thinking, ‘Yeah, I’m not sure I’ll need it. Joe Rogan says I’m probably fine,’ it is true, you might not get seriously sick from COVID, or indeed sick at all, but you could still inadvertently pass it to someone who could then die,” Oliver said (via Daily Beast). “Stop listening to what Joe Rogan tells you, he’s a ‘fucking moron’ — and those are his words, not mine.”
Rogan, who returned to the commentary table for UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Fla., is no stranger to controversy. Over the last several months, the part-time funnyman has been forced to defend his views on the LGTBQ community, among other things.
“I’m not a doctor, I’m a fucking moron,” Rogan said in response to the backlash over his vax attacks. “I’m not a respected source of information even for me. But I at least try to be honest about what I’m saying.”
Rogan is expected to be back in the booth for the UFC 263 card on May 15.
