One year after accident, Matt Grice returns to job with Oklahoma City police

Matt Grice’s recovery from a horrific auto accident has reached a significant milestone.

The 33-year-old Grice returned to his old job with the Oklahoma City Police Department on Thursday, just over a year after his accident.

Grice suffered a traumatic brain injury after his car was rear-ended at a red light by a distracted driver in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Sept. 8, 2013.

While it is likely Grice, who earned raves for his UFC 157 fight against Dennis Bermudez, which landed high on several 2013 Fight of the Year polls, will never fight again, he’s back on a job he loves.

In an email to MMAFighting, the Grice Strong Facebook page operated by his wife, Caroline, indicated Grice is currently doing office work for the police department while they figure out a permanent assignment.

“For the time being, he is doing office work to ease back in to police work until they can find a permanent spot for him in the next few months,” the email read.
