It’s okay to be a little bit jealous of “T-City” right about now.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight contender Brian Ortega seems to have really struck a chord with some Hollywood heavy-hitters. Last year, “Iron Man” himself, Robert Downey Jr., openly showed his support for “T-City’s” foundation, and now Ortega is mixing it up with Hollywood mega-starlet Halle Berry.
According to Berry’s recent social media post, “T-City” is helping her prepare for her upcoming mixed martial arts (MMA) film dubbed “Bruised,” which she will also direct.
“All about this #ManCrushMonday, @BrianTcity – the #1 @UFC ranked featherweight,” wrote Berry on Twitter. “So grateful he said yes to training with me in preparation for #BruisedTheMovie, and cannot wait to share what we cook up together.”
When Halle Barry selects you as her man crush Monday, it’s a good day to be alive. As for the film itself, Deadline offers up a bit of the synopsis.
The plot follows Jackie “Justice,” a disgraced MMA fighter who has failed at the one thing she’s ever been good at – fighting. When 6-year-old Manny, the son she walked out on years ago, returns to her doorstep, Jackie has to conquer her own demons, face one of the fiercest rising stars of the MMA world, and ultimately fight to become the mother this kid deserves.
Berry was also recently training with former UFC women’s Featherweight titleholder Cris Cyborg. Halle was sitting front row (next to Ortega) at UFC 232 to see Amanda Nunes knockout Cyborg in under a minute to become UFC champ-champ (see it).
As for Ortega, he suffered the first loss of his professional MMA career at UFC 231 last December, coming up short in his bid to dethrone Featherweight champion Max Holloway (highlights). Afterward, “T-City” underwent nose surgery and is currently healing up before plotting a return to action.
During a recent interview, Ortega hinted at an upcoming role in an Hollywood film, so don’t be too surprised if you see Brian make a cameo in Halle’s film, as well.
