Pony up $40 if you want to watch the Combate Americas PPV main event between Tito Ortiz and Alberto El Patron.
Tito Ortiz and Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberto Del Rio) are not only going to fight on December 7th, but it’ll be a pay-per-view.
The Combate Americas main event is confirmed for Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas and will cost $39.99 to order. It’s long been known that this fight would happen, but the details were confirmed on Monday’s episode of Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.
Ortiz (20-12-1) is a former UFC light heavyweight champion and hall-of-famer who has retired and unretired multiple times over. His latest retirement walkback came after his knockout win over Chuck Liddell in last November’s Golden Boy MMA main event. Ortiz signed a multi-fight agreement with Combate Americas in April, and now the 44-year-old will look to extend his current winning streak to three, and 5-1 overall in his last six bouts.
El Patron (9-5) is a former pro wrestling star, ex-WWE heavyweight champion, and a former amateur wrestling standout. He has not competed in MMA since losing to Yamamoto Hanshi way back in 2010. The 42-year-old notably fought Mirko Cro Cop and Kazuhiro Nakamura in PRIDE, losing on both occasions.
Ortiz and El Patron will make media appearances on Tuesday and Wednesday in New York to promote their 210 lbs catchweight showdown.
