In something that you truly don’t see everyday, the upcoming UFC Fight Night 156 event — set to go down on Sat., Aug. 10, 2019 inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay — has been hit with multiple fallouts on the same day.
According to MMA Fighting, four fighters have been forced out of the ESPN+1-streamed event including Rachael Ostovich, who will be replaced by Polyana Viana in her women’s Flyweight fight against Veronica Macedo.
Also, Rodrigo Vargas will replace Rafael Fiziev against Brazilian lightweight Alex da Silva, while Alexey Kunchenko is awaiting a new opponent after Laureano Staropoli suffered a broken nose. If that weren’t enough of a bummer for UFC, Taila Santos suffered a wrist injury and was forced out of her bout against Ariane Carnelossi.
Talk about a headache.
On the bright side, UFC has a pretty large roster, so it should have no issues finding suitable replacements for Kunchenko and Ariane. At the very least, matchmakers shouldn’t have a problem finding someone willing to make the jump up from the regional circuit on short notice.
UFC Fight Night 156 is set to be headlined by a women’s Flyweight title fight that will see division queen Valentina Shevchenko take on Liz Carmouche, while the co-main event will see Vicente Luque taking on Mike Perry in Welterweight action.
