LAS VEGAS, NEVADA- Sean O’Malley is sorry for his performance.

‘The Sugar Show’ title reign ended at UFC 306 last night (Sat., Sept. 14, 2024), as Merab Dvalishvilli dominated O’Malley for five rounds to win the UFC Bantamweight title via unanimous decision from inside The Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Shortly after the fight, O’Malley took to social media to apologize for his performance.

“Over promised under delivered. Sorry. Love you guys,” O’Malley wrote on Twitter.

O’Malley also posted a video on Instagram of him already practicing his wrestling sprawl, something he didn’t do during the actual fight.

O’Malley, 29, had his six-fight win streak snapped and ended his title reign with one defense over Marlon Vera – the only other person to defeat O’Malley in UFC.

Dvalishvilli, 33, is riding an 11-fight win streak and has now defeated four former UFC champions: O’Malley, Jose Aldo, Petr Yan and Henry Cejudo.
